to find how to discover the resident know about ~ 이렇게 하면 discover의 목적어가 'the resident' 가 되거나 discover 다음에 (that)절로 볼 수가 있는데,  두경우 모두 의미사 맞지 않고,  the resident 이하가 '주어'+동사+목적어로 완벽한 문장이라서 that절로 볼 수도 없습니다.
