민스크2차 휴전협정의 뒷이야기 보도에 있어서, 포로센코는 푸틴에게 돈바스를 가져가라고 제안한 것이 모스크바와 키에프 양국에 의해 부인되고 있다. 그럼에도 미국와 키에프 양측의 주장은 일치하는데, 러시아가 그런 제안을 거절했던 것으로 나오는 것이다.
포로센코가 돈바스 합병을 제안했다는 정보는 포브스지가 발간했는데, 푸틴이 3월 19일자로 저명한 러시아 사업가와 회담한 내용을 폭로하면서 나온 기사이다. 러시아 산업과 기업가 동맹의 이사회는 푸틴과 비밀회동을 한자리에서 우크라아나 내전사태의 상사한 면모를 토의했다고 나온다, 포브스지는 푸틴이 포로센코로부터 돈바스를 합병하라는 제안을 받았다고 보도했다.
Reports that during the Minsk-2 meeting Poroshenko offered Putin to take the Donbass were denied both by Moscow and Kiev. Nevertheless, the proposal is consistent with the logic of both the so-called government in Kiev and its US curators. Just as is Russia’s refusal to entertain such an option.
The information on Poroshenko’s proposal was published by Forbes in an article which revealed details of Putin’s meeting with prominent Russian business figures on March 19. At a closed meeting with the board of directors of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), Putin allegedly discussed in detail various aspects of the Ukrainian crisis, from sanctions to Novorossia. According to Forbes, Putin said that at the Minsk-2 meeting Poroshenko proposed that Russia take Donbass:
"포로센코는 확실하게 내게 말하길 : 돈바스를 합병하시오. 나는 답했는데 : 당신 정신 나갔소? 나는 돈바스가 필요없어요. 만일 당신도 필요없거든, 그들이 독립한다고 발표하세요." 라고 말했다는 것이다.
러시아는 포로센코의 문제를 떠안을 수가 없다, 왜냐하면 그문제들은 돈바스의 문제가 아니며 또 그 주민들이 반 러시아 성향도 아니기 않기 때문이다. 그런 문제는 포로센코같은 도당 정치인들이 만들어내는 짓이기 때문이다.
포로센코는 서방으로부터 등질수가 없다, 그러므로 그는 돈바스를 제거하려 시도하는 것이다 - 그런 방식은 러시아가 합병하는 것으로 보일 것이고, 이것은 내전의 결과가 아닌 러시아의 강압처럼 비칠 것이다.
그런 일은 이러나지 않는다 - 내전도 아직 끝나지 않았다, 그러니 러시아가 서두를 필요가 없다: 우크라이나가 새로워지길 기다려야한다.
